Thank you once again to Canon Keith for a moving and comforting service for ‘All Souls’.It was very special to gather some of our funeral families together in a sunny and uplifting church and with time to catch up too.
For the annual Service of Remembrance, we were joined by Mark Atherton from Droitwich, who spoke about the WW2 Lancaster Bomber which crashed in the fields opposite Woodrow Farm costing the lives of six Canadian and two British men.Mark has provided a framed picture for the local history display around the war memorial and is now in touch with the Hanbury History Group to share his research at a future meeting.
In January, the Community Great War Display will be entering its final year with the majority of our Hanbury soldiers now having a 100th anniversary poppy on their stand. As we strive to imagine the mood of the village at that time, we move into the final stages of the war and we do remember them and all who served, with love and gratitude.
Very many thanks to Laurie and all who joined the annual ‘Soup and Roll Stroll’ in aid of Church funds.Yet another rainy morning was picked, but perhaps less so than in previous years! The Hanbury countryside was beautiful as ever and warming, tasty soup was kindly donated by Bridget, Sue, Rachael and Judy, raising just shy of £90.00 towards roof repairs.
