BOOK LAUNCH IN WORCESTER
Nicholas Lambert, great grandson of Captain John Osborn Walford, MC and bar, and a regular visitor to Hanbury since the discovery of Walford’s grave in the churchyard, has written a book entitled ‘To War with the Old Gent’ which was launched at The Worcestershire’s Regiment museum on 20 January.
The book follows the progress of Walford’s war and what happened in the years which followed when he resided at Hanbury Mount. In addition, Nicholas has researched the experiences of several comrades, to paint a vivid picture of these horrific times but with a slightly different slant from what has gone before. This book is a must for anyone interested in the regiment, The Great War, the history of Hanbury and the old boys of King Edward’s School, Birmingham.
Nicholas has attended several Remembrance Sunday commemorations in Hanbury in recent years, both at the village memorial and in church so many of you may remember seeing him. His book is now available in hardback, priced £25, via the usual outlets.
